HEDGES CHAPEL

Hedges Chapel will once again be participating in the national “Souper Bowl of Caring” to benefit two local organizations, Loaves and Fishes and Meals on Wheels.
Loaves and Fishes, a food bank in Hedgesville, is a ministry of the Hedgesville Area Community of Churches, hosted by Hedgesville United Methodist Church. It provides a set bag of food items, plus extras, to those in need on the 4th Friday of each month. Meals on Wheels delivers hot nutritious meals to over 250 homebound Berkeley County recipients each day.
The following non-perishable food items are provided in the bags given out by Loaves and Fishes and are their priority items to receive: peanut butter; jelly; canned fruit, soup, spaghetti, vegetables, tuna fish and chicken; cereal; pasta sauce and pasta; pancake mix, syrup, beans, pasta salad, rice and instant potatoes, mac & cheese, Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles. (Loaves and Fishes will accept and distribute any non-expired, undamaged canned goods or other non-perishable items so feel free to include these in addition.)
If you would rather donate to Meals on Wheels, we encourage you to consider donating several “Snow Kits.” When inclement weather prevents volunteer drivers from delivering a meal to recipients, they make and pre-deliver “Snow Kits” to them. Each Snow Kit contains the following non-perishables: canned tuna or chicken; non-spicy soup, preferably chicken noodle or rice; sleeve of crackers, sealed, any brand; single-serve pudding or fruit cup; bottled water.
To help us manage the distribution of your donations, please put the intended recipient on your bag when leaving items (MOW or L&F).
Drop-off times at the pavilion are as follows:
Sunday, January 29, 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Sunday, February 5, 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Saturday, February 11, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Sunday, February 12, 12:00 to 1:00 pm
If none of these times work for you, please arrange an alternative with Martha Lewis who is coordinating this project. girllewis@aol.com; 805-602-7432
The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national effort that began with one youth group
and a simple prayer: “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” Witness what one can do when we all unite to give. “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” - Matthew 25:40
